Am I the only one who feels inadequate?

I have come across a few really neat parenting blogs that have lots of great ideas for activities that you can do with your children. And, often these activities are pretty cheap and can be done with household items.

I love reading about these ideas and I often bookmark them for "future" use (ha!). As much as I love reading about these ideas I can't help but feel a tad bit inadequate as a parent... I mean, 1) how do they come up with all these ideas and 2)where do they find the time to actually do them? When do they get stuff done around the house? Or, maybe I just suck at being an at-home mom... I'd love to be all creative and organized and do big projects every day but I can't seem to get it all together.

Anyhow, enough whining about my shortcomings. I love these blogs, really, and my main point was to share the links so everyone else can check them out and get some fun ideas.

Here they are!

Flipflops and Applesauce
Let's Explore
Make and Takes
Unplug your kids
One Little Two Little
Chasing Cheerios

Just so I don't look completely like a loser mom... we did do one of these projects today from Flipflops and Applesauce. Aubri stayed the night last night and this morning we (me, P, Aubri and Hudson) went with LeeAnn and Lukas to pick blueberries (picked 2 pounds!). We got home and had some hotdogs on the grill and we made these neato sponge soakers! Super cheap and easy. That turned into us washing the cars... well.... in the end it was LeeAnn and I washing the cars LOL!

Some neat ideas I've seen thus far on Flipflops and Appleseauce:
Collander Bubble maker and bubble recipe
Make your own felt board (great for car trips!)

  1. For real! When do they watch tv? =)

But seriously, I try a lot of their stuff and it doesn't go over very well sometimes! See my blog from earlier today! =)

  2. I thinking of fun things to do with my girls, but I have plenty of other shortcomings as a mother-like getting dinner on the table and keeping up with the laundry...
Being a mom is just plain hard sometimes!
    Thanks for the link.
    Lots of love to you,
    Chrissie from Flipflops and Applesauce

  3. i think we all have areas that could use improvement, but ah heck, how fun would it be if we were all perfect? :)

    thanks for the links!

  4. What great ideas!
Some of the best & least expensive things my kids have enjoyed, have been a scavenger hunt w/ brown paper bags. Help them with a list & look for pine cones, sticks, caterpillars, backyard items, etc. & make it a game. They love it!

By the way, is the berry farm still going strong? I would have thought it was done with? Is there a # for the farm, or just show up & see if the picking is still good?

  5. Thanks for the links Nic! I'm hoping I can manage some time for fun activities since today is my last day of work. :o)

  6. i think the better question is 'where do they find the time to actually do them and then BLOG about it?' LOL. :)

    those are awesome ideas, thanks!

  7. You mean I'm supposed to be doing housework? Oops! :) Thanks for the link and have a wonderful day! Amy @ Let's Explore

  8. Ahhh man, I would love to be able to do those things. 3 kids 3 and under makes it a bit tough. But hey, you read my post today, so you know what I'm talking about!

  9. Thanks for the links, What an enabler to blogging you are!! These are going right in my reader.. :)
